Dr. Brian KwonThe Global Research Platform (GRP) is being closely co-developed in alignment with the Rick Hansen Institute's Translational Research Program (TRP), and it will be used as the primary data collection platform for TRP clinical trials. Plans are underway to have the GRP support these upcoming RHI trials:

  • The Canadian Multicentre CSF Pressure Monitoring and Biomarker Study (CAMPER) led by Dr. Brian Kwon will provide clearer guidance on the management of blood and intrathecal pressures in acute human SCI, and validate the use of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers to predict long term outcomes of SCI. This study is scheduled to be launched in 5 sites by March 2012.
  • The Minocycline Multicentre Study, led by Drs. Steve Casha and John Hurlbert, seeks to further validate the neuroprotective abilities of the common antibiotic minocycline in acute human SCI. We are currently developing the study protocol and budget with an eye to beginning work in 2011.
